eventide

Jack White is at it again with the Third Man Hardware & Eventide The Knife Drop, a stereo combination of sub/high-octave fuzz and analog synth created in collaboration with one of the most established pedal companies in the US, presented through playful graphics inspired by the classic Giallo movies (that word means, Yellow, white’s favorite color, and that’s how Italian call the murder mystery genre).

The layout of the Knife Drop is deceivingly simple, but there’s more to it than it catches the eye.

The three knobs at the top control Synth, Drive and Level, but the little push button on the right of them activates alt functions when held, so that they get to set Attack, Resonance, and Cutoff, for a fully-featured set of controls in the fuzz+synth+filter department.

What look like two LED lights on top of the footswitches (a bypass and an Octave trigger), are also push buttons controlling two more settings: filter pre or post distortion and octave up or up+down.

This line-in compatible pedal can store presets (you’ll find some programmed by Jack White himself), and works with Midi and Expression pedal.

The Knife Drop is available in two color schemes: yellow on black and black on yellow.
