The EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath is an otherworldly reverberation machine that uses a cluster of short delays to create wild and cavernous reverberations with scattered, rhythmic reflections.... Click on the title for more

With obvious nods to psych rock and krautrock evident in their latest EP, 'Gathering Rust,' to call Honduras simply a punk or post-punk band would be reductive. The quartet manages to combine the reckless spirit of punk, youthful abandon of garage rock, and the polished melodic tendencies of indie to forge a sound that encapsulates the past and present of NYC. The band placed third in our recent "Best of NYC 2015 Poll for Emerging Artists", and is about to embark on a three week East Coast tour. We are sure lead guitarist Tyson Moore is looking forward to haul around his huge pedal board (photo below).... Click on the title for more
Cecilia Della Peruti is a creative force to be reckoned with in the LA scene. Her band Gothic Tropic's musical output could be seen as a permanent effort to defy categorizations: disparate influences like rock, pop, ambient, African melodies and even jazz find a place in her repertoire without affecting its cohesiveness. The lady is also an accomplished guitarist and she's very well versed in stomping on guitar pedals, so we asked her to send us a picture of it.... Click on the title for more
Power girl band (or girl power band?) The Beaches made quite a splash last year in Toronto. In honor of our upcoming first Toronto Stompbox Exhibit, we asked guitarist Kylie Miller to tell us about her favorite guitar pedals... here's what she had to say!
"Here’s my pedal board, pretty simple rig going on. For my main sounds, I use a modded Big Muff and an overdrive (Lexi by DMB Pedals ) which sounds like a Marshall amp. My new favorite pedals on my board are my [EQD] Bit Commander and my 1974 MXR Phase 90 pedal. The Bit Commander is a badass octave fuzz made by EarthQuaker Devices that sounds like a quirky mix of Jack White and Tame Impala. It bulks up any riff or solo. I rarely use the Phaser pedal, but it has a super authentic 70’s psychedelic sound that I love. It can be heard quite distinctly on our track “Zsa Zsa”, off of our second EP, “Heights.”"... Anyone heading to NAMM this year should make a point to swing by the Earthquaker Devices booth to see what the perennial Delicious Audio favorites have ramped up special for the show. With EIGHT new pedals on the docket, they effectively have a whole new line rolling out.
Among the new offerings, one that has my interest the piqued the most is a stackable dual fuzz pedal called the Spire Fuzz Doubler which emulates a combination of a vintage Rosac Nu Fuzz and the now out-of-production Dream Crusher. Either one of these Fuzz boxes alone from Earthquaker would be a win, but in a space saving combo it sounds like this unit could strip the paint off a radiator.... Click on the title for more
Ohio's Earthquaker Devices has emerged in the last few years as one of the companies truly pushing the boundaries of the stompbox. They continue to come up with fresh ideas and innovations in the community of guitar FX manufacturers, and even though they normally don't disdain depth of features, one of their latest offerings is disarmingly simple but incredibly solid – the Tentacle octave pedal.... EarthQuaker Devices unveiled four new pedals at NAMM 2015, two of which are re-issues of classics now in a smaller format (which is definitely a trend appreciated by musicians when pedal board real estate is a necessity). The first of these re-packaged re-issues, the Hummingbird tremolo, is one to desire above others due to its mode switch. It has 3 speed controls - slow LFO, medium LFO and ‘super fast.’ There’s also a jack for an expression pedal to control the rate. The slow and fast speeds now go even slower and faster, and the depth knob can now be set so low that you can use it just as a clean boost when not using it as a tremolo. The Sea Machine is the other reissue. It is basically just a sized-down version of the classic Sea Machine with the minor addition of an LED to show the rate, even when disengaged....
