Guitar Pedal Reviews: JAM Dyna-ssoR Compressor/Sustainer

They say that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. For the past two years I've attended NAMM in Anaheim, CA and for two years I've been impressed by the hand-painted designs of Greek company, JAM Pedals. They offer hand-built, hand-painted pedals that use only the best components. They even offer custom paint jobs. Their booth at NAMM is always an eye catcher due to the interesting physical appearance of the hand-painted pedals, and the booth is always packed. So much so that I have never even gotten a chance to talk to anyone from the company.... Click on the title for more

Orange Kongpressor

The Kongpressor is a five-knob class-A, optical squash machine, going above and beyond the limits of most pedal compressors. Unlike many other compression pedals, the Kongpressor offers up control over all compression parameters including both attack and release. The Kongpressor likes riding up front, before any wahs or fuzzes you might have, so it can grasp the entirety of your pure signal and coat your tone in its velvety transparent squish. Because of its wealth of controls, the Kongpressor contains an almost infinite number of sweet spots, as the Squash, Attack and Release knobs interact extremely well, with tons of different tones between them. The Squash control offers just the right amount of compression to get your mojo working, all while cradling your tone in its big, soft hands. After dialing in the right amount of compression, a global Chime control acts as an active one-band EQ centered on treble frequencies. This active control boosts treble when turned right of center and cuts them when rolled back, for an even-keeled compression sound that sparkles just the way you want it. To combat any perceived volume loss, the Volume knob offers up to 12dB of clean boost. The Kongpressor contains an internal charge pump to double the operating voltage, and accepts up to a 12-volt adapter for a staggering amount of headroom that sits just right in your amp's effects loop. This extra headroom also gives you a subtle tonal kick that bathes your preamp in extra compression. And like all Orange pedals, the Kongpressor is built as tough as its name for a lifetime of service.

Bondi Effects 2026 Compressor Limiter

Bondi 2026 Compressor You may think that Bondi Effects is another Italian manufacturer (we covered a bunch of them as of late), but the name actually originates from an Australian aboriginal word meaning "the sound of waves crashing over rocks." Is that natural sound the precursor of fuzz? Founded in 2013 and run by husband and wife Jon and Anna Ashley, the company's raison d'être can be traced in the desire of the six string playing couple to "create the pedals we wish existed for our own rigs."...
