old

To their credit, Oklahoma City’s Old Blood Noise Endeavours has yet to attempt to make a “normal” guitar pedal, and the Pardner Fuzz (depicted here in its purple variant, but also available in teal blue and yellow-tan) confirms this inclination by mixing two normally antithetic effects: a fuzz and an looper with its own drive circuit (Lasso).

This combination opens up a host of creative possibilities, in particular for sonically daring guitarists unafraid to experiment with noise, synthy textures and glitchy and distorted loops.

The two effects have separate output volumes and on/off footswitches, although the knob for the Lasso also controls the amount of drive on that channel. They can be routed in three different ways through the Lasso First-Para-Fuzz First toggle, where Para stands for “parallel.”

The voice of the fuzz can be tweaked via the Filter and Intensity knobs, and altered to sound more or less synthetic via the Synthy/Fuzzy toggle. A 3-way EQ section helps sculpt the Fuzz tone, without affecting the looper.

Send/Return connections let you route other effects into the Pardner circuit.

Check out what kind of noises this pedal can do in the videos below.

Old Blood Noise Pardner Fuzz, Builder’s Notes

Pardner is a whacky fuzz with unique synthy textures that resonate and warble and pair with an overdriven effects loop (“Lasso”) to add further textures to an already otherworldly dirt device. Rip a solo or some massive chords or heck, run your drums through it – we’re not here to tell you how to Pardner.

Controls include:

Filter and Intensity and Synthy-Fuzzy toggle to shape the core voice of the fuzz

Treble, Bass, and Fuzz Volume to sculpt the fuzz output

Lasso Gain and Lasso Volume to set the overdrive amount and volume of the Lasso effects loop

Lasso Out (Send) and Lasso In (Return) jacks to route other effects into Pardner

Lasso First-Para-Fuzz First toggle to set the order of effects

Individual soft-touch bypass footswitches for each side, with true relay bypass when both sides are off

For more information, see the Pardner manual available here.

Requires 9V DC center negative 2.1mm jack power supply capable of 80mA (not included).

The art of Pardner is by Garrett Young.
