Science Amplification Mother Preamp

The Science Amplification Mother Preamp is the first pedal released by the Washington-state-based company, the labor of love of amp builder Alex Gaziano.

It’s a recreation of the company’s Mother MkIII amp, a dual-channel take on the vintage high-wattage sounds of the early ’70s featuring an analog FET signal path emulating the response of a tube amp.

The two channels share the central five controls, including a 3-way EQ section and the Absence and Depth knobs, dealing respectively with emphasizing the harmonic content and tweaking the low end. Gain and Loudness are separate, allowing for two different settings of saturation and level (the two channels aren’t stackable).
