Just when we were about to wind down for the upcoming weekend, our pristine email inbox lit up with a new press release from Electro-Harmonix, from the city that never sleeps nor takes shorter days on Friday (that is, NY, NY!). As if that wasn’t enough, the message promoted the release of not one but THREE new products!
Here’s a quick overview of each pedal, with videos embedded below.
Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff Pi
Another device belonging to the never-ending Muff saga, the Sovtek Deluxe Big Muff is presented by Mike Matthews as a pedal that “delivers the devastating low end, crisp highs and non-scooped mids players love in the Civil War and Tall Font Green Russian with the powerful sound shaping control of our Deluxe Big Muff.”
This stompbox most notably features a parametric EQ for the Mids with a selectable center frequency ranging from 310Hz to 5.0kHz, a “Mix” knob for blending clean and dirty signal, and the Wicked switch for opening up the high end.
Flatiron Fuzz/Distortion
The Flatiron is an op-amp style fuzz/distortion in a compact enclosure (adorned with an attractive orange illustration of one of the most beautiful NYC landmark buildings). It’s presented as a RAT-inspired circuit, delivering symmetrical hard clipping and integrated with a low pass filter that allows to tame the highs to taste
Nano Batallion Bass Preamp/Overdrive
This is a MOSFET drive circuit that delivers a broad range of distorted tones plus a three-band EQ with three EQ position modes for greater flexibility. A streamlined version of this beast.
