Designed by a French one-man company based in beautiful Toulouse, the Diffractor Soundings Chromatic Journey is an analog stereo phaser with digital controls that really looks like the mother of all phaser pedals, just like their previous release, the Arboretum, looked like the mother of all tremolos.
Phaser-heads will be able to entertain themselves for hours by trying all the possibilities allowed by the interaction of the 10 knobs controlling familiar settings like depth, speed, feedback, mix and waveform (8 of them) and less familiar ones like height and “Interactor,” presented as the pedal’s secret weapon.
The Interactor is a knob/footswitch combination located on the bottom left of the pedal that allows to manipulate the LFO’s oscillation in 6 different playful and creative ways.
Modular synth players will be happy to hear that the Chromatic Journey supports CV (and also Expression pedal): the EXP/CV rotary knob allows to control one of 4 different parameters that way.
Hear what this pedal can do in the videos below. We added it to our comprehensive article about the best Phaser pedals.
