Plate reverb is not a type of reverb commonly associated with electric guitar, but its lush, long and smooth reflections make it ideal for musicians with ambient leanings, and the UAFX Heavenly Plate Reverb is probably the most authentic digital recreation of the ginormous vintage units, with the added bonus of a post-reverb modulation effect.
Part of the UAFX Compacts Line, the Heavenly’s algorithm is based on the company’s popular audio plugin and offers three modes delivering slightly different tones (Vintage Bright, Vintage Dark, and Modern) and adds useful features that weren’t available in the original plate reverbs, such as Decay, Predelay and the aforementioned Modulation circuit, an effect increasingly popular among ambient guitarists to add a liquid character to the reverb’s trails.
Mix and EQ knobs, as expected, let you balance the dry and wet signal and tweak the effect’s tone.
Two switches on the back panel allow you to change the Modulation Speed (there are only two settings: slow and fast) and to turn Trail mode on, which will let the reverb’s reflections end once you turn off the pedal.
