Since it was acquired by Behringer’s Music Tribe, Danish company TC Electronic has lost a lot of its original appeal – the one of a forward-thinking company run by bright and likable people. A series of redesigns of cheap, old Behringer pedals and unnecessary clones of existing circuits have diluted a brand once known for original, cutting-edge circuitry, while the predatory inclinations of their PR and marketing tactics are fueling a backlash from most folks passionate enough about pedals to spend their time writing about them (or shooting them), including truly yours. In this optic, the new Infinite pedal is a little step forward: it’s at least an evolution (rather than a mere copy) of an idea pioneered by Gamechanger Audio.
The Infinite samples the end of your guitar and figures out a perfect moment to loop it in a way that will sound natural, generating infinite sustain. This is what the Gamechanger Audio Plus pedal does already very well.
However, the infinite adds to the concept a few new tricks, including
• Infinite mode can add and sustain an indefinite number of layers which gradually morph together
• Integrated reverb and modulation can be paired with the sustain
• Footswitch control can be set to latching or momentary
• FX loop to add external effects to the sustained signal
• 3 TonePrint slots for beaming and storing artist TonePrints
Here are the videos of the TC Electronic Infinite Sample Sustainer.
