The NRG Effects Gnawer is a RAT-inspired dual-channel overdrive by a small British builder that has built a reputation for solid and tweakable pedal designs. Unlike original RATs and many of its variations, it has a very usable range of tones also at lower gain.
Based on a NA5534P op-amp (not the original RAT one) the Gnawer features a first line of shared controls on the top (Loud, Hair and Claw, which delivers warmer and less aggressive tone); and a set a two knobs per channel on the bottom row for Bite (treble) and Gnaw (gain).
The 3-way Hair switch adds two settings with extra headroom.
The Gnaw footswitch lets you switch between the two channel, while the On one on the left turns the pedal on and off.
