New Pedals: Seymour Duncan’s Dirty Deed Distortion

After years of silence in the realm of pedal releases, renowned pickup designers, Seymour Duncan, return triumphantly with the Dirty Deed Distortion. The Dirty Deed deviates away from the design of previous SD pedals with a re-worked housing and a tightly condensed face. Whereas usually SD pedals used a much larger box, this one comes in standard size without having to compromise any of the controls (standard level and drive knobs on either side with treble and bass mini switches in the middle). ... From MOD Kits DIY, here’s a refreshing approach to wah pedals: The New Wahtz Wah Pedal Kit offers the hands-on experience of building your own pedal through kit instruction and in their own terms, “… produces the classic Wah tone you've come expect with a hint of extra bite and growl.” They also boast “true bypass switching [that] insures no loss of signal when the Wah effect is not engaged” and “[a] long life potentiometer manufactured specifically for use in Wah pedals… to provide years of smooth, quiet operation.”... New Pedals at NAMM: EarthQuaker Devices Pitch Bay Polyphonic Harmonizer And Terminal Fuzz

The wizards at EarthQuaker Devices premiered two new pedals at this year’s Winter NAMM: The Pitch Bay Dirty Polyphonic Harmonizer and the Terminal , both of which flaunt simple ideas accentuated by that signature EQD ingenuity. The Pitch Bay includes two harmonizer knobs that function within semi-tone increments up to twelve, but only one harmonizes above the root; the second knob adds to the chord below the root note for even greater harmonic capability. As if polyphonic harmonization wasn’t enough, the pedal has an adjustable input gain too. Check out the demo below.... Click on the title for more

Pedal News: Pigtronix Echolution 2 Delay

NYC based stompbox maker Pigtronix follows up their 2006 Echolution delay pedal with its badass sequel, the Echolution 2 standard and deluxe (pictured). With basic delay function that spans from 10ms to 10s repeat time and secondary delays to generate multi-delay patterns, this pedal is already extremely versatile, but it’s the extra-delay effects that give the Echolution 2 added character over its predecessor.... Pedal Reviews: Rainger FX Dr. Freakenstein Fuzz

There sure are some pretty wild boutique stompbox manufacturers out there. That being said, I can pretty easily say the Rainger FX Dr. Freakenstein Fuzz (DrFF-3) is the weirdest pedal I have ever come across. This pedal sounds like it’s straight out of a monster movie, with “frighteningly loud” fuzz capability, controlled by the single volume knob on the left, and a built in mod switch that triggers high resonance phasing, adjustable only in rate by the knob near the bottom. In an expert step of foresight, Rainger FX included a noise gate that keeps the pedal completely silent in between notes, even when you’re using the Drff-3 to scream as loudly as it possibly can.... The Mona Wah is the newest release from CT based manufacturer, Black Cat Pedals, with state of the art design, in part by “DIY guru and wah master” Joe Gagan.
