Mesa/Boogie just announced a new line of overdrive pedals called “Four on the Floor” and consisting of the Tone-Burst, Grid Slammer, Flux-Drive, and Throttle Box, created using the same craftsmanship and quality components from their custom amplifiers. Here’s a quick look at them:
The Throttle Box is the most aggressive of the bunch, featuring a unique Mid Cut that scoops out midrange to produce the signature Boogie “V” EQ-curve that characterizes Mesa Engineering’s amps.
The Flux-Drive features a more “liquid” gain and enhanced sustain, making it the most versatile, and includes individual Treble and Bass controls with +/-12dB of tone shaping boost.
Grid Slammer is a more classic overdrive with a mid-range bump, producing tones ranging from sweet, subtle breakup to a harmonically smoldering overdrive that can both sting and sing.
The Tone-Burst is the most transparent in this bundle but offers enough gain to provide a variety of distortion related applications. It also features independent Treble and Bass knobs.
The Throttle Box goes for $199 and the other three for $179. – Andrés Marín
