Originally built to meet the tone requests of Danish Pete of The Andertones, the Thorpy FX The Dane evolved into a flexible low gain overdrive + boost pedal that can meet the needs of a wide range of guitarists. The new MkII condensates the same circuit into a compact, black anodised aluminium enclosure, adding a bonus feature.
The overdrive, on the left channel, offers low to medium gain overdrive, while the boost, with its separate footswitch on the right, is first in the chain and super clean, and has a very high headroom.
This configuration allows for three tonal variations at your toe-tips: boost, overdrive, and boosted overdrive (when both channels are on), which can produce a full saturation.
The new feature in MkII is a toggle switch that lets you switch from the original clipping (labeled “DP” as in Danish Pete) to Heavier Clipping (HC), similar to the second channel of the company’s Heavy Water, delivering extra grit.

THE DANE we all know and love just turned 5. Five years of great tone and five years of an awesome partnership with Danish Pete. But, it was time for a refresh. A crisp new look with a smaller, black anodised aluminium enclosure and a bonus new feature. The Dane still has the two sides for Drive and Boost, only it now has the option to switch the Boost from the standard DP (Danish Pete) clipping to Heavier Clipping (HC), similar to the second channel of the Heavy Water, just to give you that bit of extra grit should you want it.
