Swedish pedal brand Surfy Industry has quickly gained a status as one of the if not the best manufacturer of real spring reverb pedals, in considerable part also because of their more affordable and portable spring reverb, the Surfybear Compact. The company is now introducing an evolution of that pedal, featuring a lot more features including an added Tremolo effect: enter the Surfy Industries Surfybear Compact Deluxe.
Like in the previous version, the spring reverb section of this device is based on a 1962 Fender® 6G15® reverb unit, replacing the tubes with JFET transistor technology – there are real springs in that big case!
Besides a great sound that “drips”, the Surfy Compact Reverb Deluxe offers a range of features that make it extremely versatile.
It includes a dual mixer control, allowing you to seamlessly switch between two reverb settings via the central footswitch, and a decay control to tailor the length of the reverb tail. It also lets you connect an external reverb pan and assign it independently to each mixer control for added flexibility.
The unit incorporates the circuit of their popular SurfyTrem tremolo with Brownface and Blackface tremolo voicings, configurable to operate either PRE or POST reverb.
A clean boost lets you adjust the volume when the effect is engaged, applicable to both reverb and tremolo, while the 9-12V power specs allow for extra headroom.
