Kernom Elipse

Hailing from France, Kernom has quickly earned a reputation for crafting truly distinctive stereo effects circuits. After their previous take on overdrive and fuzz, their Kernom Elipse tackles modulation in all its variables – and with some twists.

Integrating digital technology to control a fully analog circuit, the Elipse offers 6 types of modulation, allowing some kind of morphing between “related” ones through the MOOD knob.

Let’s try to explain this function: Tremolo, a volume-base effect, is a close relative of the Rotary, which shares some sonic qualities with Corus/Vibrato, which in turn is a Flanger with a longer delay, which is a phase-based effect just like the Phaser, a less glorified Uni-Vibe. The Elipse lets you slowly morph between modulation types in that order.

The other unusual knob is called Swirl. It adds a slow phaser on top of the modulation sound, creating an extra texture that enriches your tone with a layer of lush multidimensionality. At higher settings, this control triggers an analog overdrive that warms up your signal with a warm saturation.

The Shape knob is also rather peculiar, delivering various shapes for the modulation LFO, in a way that, again, allows to creation of in-between versions of two different waves.

Speed and Depth rate your regular modulation controls, while Mix allows to blend in the clean signal for more subtle and dynamic tones.

As you may expect, the Elipse is Midi compatible, can store up to 128 Presets, and has an Expression In that can be configured to control any combination of knobs.
