GFI System Rossie

Indonesian pedal builder GFI System specializes in digital multi-mode pedals, but their newest release tackles a type of effect that more than any other hangs on to its analog origins: filter. Enter the Rossie Filter, a digital, dynamic multi-filter pedal.

The Rossie’s circuit offers three modes:

  • Envelope Filter – a colorful resonant filter that follows your picking dynamics

  • Step Filter – a groovy, arpeggiated filter with fully adjustable steps.

  • Manual Filter – great for static tone shaping or sweepable wah-like effect using an expression pedal.

Each mode offers the four classic filter shapes (lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and peaking) and can be edited via three knobs (Range, Mix  and a mode-dependent Param control).

The two footswitches have a double function: the On/Off one will act as a Momentary Ramp effects when held down, while the Tap Tempo (with subdivisions) one on the right will also allow you to navigate the two presets. An Expression Pedal Input allows for wah wah action as well as control of other parameters.

A small display will show the parameters’ levels and display the chosen mode.

Brett Kingman has made separate videos for the three modes – click on the links below to see them:
