GFI System is an Indonesian builder that has been gaining momentum in the guitar pedal world thanks to innovative hybrid digital effects like the Synesthesia and the Specular Tempus.
The Orba is a studio-quality, streamlined, multi-mode, stereo digital delay that replaces the Clockwork Delay in their line. It features four of its predecessor’s true and tried delay algorithms: Digital, Tape, Diffuse, and Ambiental.
The four knobs (Time, Repeats, Level and Modes) are also pressure switches: by pressing and turning you access secondary parameters. The fourth knob handles other functions like subdivision and assigning the two preset slots.
The two footswitches absolve On/Off and Tap Tempo function, but also help navigate between presets and engage the momentary Ramp effect.
The input and output jacks feature TRS connectors for stereo operations, and the External jack can accept either expression or tap tempo input.
This is a more “curated” delay pedal than your classic do-it-all delay workstation, but still, a useful and great-sounding device that’s likely to inspire you for a long time.

GFI Orca, Builder’s Notes
The GFI Systems Orca Delay offers a suite of powerful time-based effects, maximizing utility, flexibility and an ease of use that belies its complexity. Everything from pristine digital delays to washed-out ambient echoes is possible with Orca’s four delay algorithms, while the four dual-function encoders allow up to seven parameter adjustments per mode. These complex tone shaping controls can be mapped to the expression pedal input, which also doubles as a tap tempo input, and two preset slots are available to save your favorite settings. On top of this, the Orca offers TRS contacts at its inputs and output jacks, allowing any combination of mono or stereo operation. The Orca provides a sensibly laid-out, powerful user interface, along with plenty of sweet spots for dialing in characterful delays ranging from crystal clear to dark and distant.
