A dual-channel, improved version of the French company’s fuzz + filter pedal, the Collision Devices TARS DLX is a (so far) limited edition that’s bound to excite the noise seekers out there. The first 100 units sold out in an instant, but there are more on the way.
Fuzz and filters can be used separately, either in parallel or in series, offering a wide range of dirt and filtering options.
The circuit features two analog filters inspired by the MS-20 synthesizer. It stands out as one of the few pedals offering resonant 4-pole Low Pass and High Pass filters, making it ideal for precise tone shaping.
The fuzz circuit, an evolution of the one found in the company’s popular Black Hole Simmetry pedal, has been redesigned for a more open high-end, allowing it to deliver smooth, low-gain fuzz and distortion—perfect for creamy, post-hardcore riffs—or even more aggressive genres at high gain settings.
The filters have been refined to handle low-end frequencies better, making them ideal for sub-heavy bass sounds. The pedal also works as a clean blend for bass or as an insert effect in a mix.
The ADD FUZZ mode—unique to this pedal and triggered by the Crash footswitch—has been upgraded with a high-pass filter following the low-pass filter. This setup layers a filtered fuzz on top of the main fuzz signal, allowing the filters to act as EQ shapers or phasing effects.
When the Blast button is on, a feedback fuzz is added to the 1st fuzz.
Here’s the manufacturer’s video of it.
