EQD Organizer – Honduras’ favorite pedal

12063738_1024291974259248_5489437234090265338_n[1] With obvious nods to psych rock and krautrock evident in their latest EP, 'Gathering Rust,' to call Honduras simply a punk or post-punk band would be reductive. The quartet manages to combine the reckless spirit of punk, youthful abandon of garage rock, and the polished melodic tendencies of indie to forge a sound that encapsulates the past and present of NYC. The band placed third in our recent "Best of NYC 2015 Poll for Emerging Artists", and is about to embark on a three week East Coast tour. We are sure lead guitarist Tyson Moore is looking forward to haul around his huge pedal board (photo below).... New Pedals: TC Electronic Sub’n’Up Octaver

tce-subnupoctaver[1]

One of Danish manufacturer
TC Electronic’s newest additions to their Toneprint pedal series is the Sub'n'up, an octave pedal that combines some of the best features of various octave pedals into one unit. This is a rather simple but great sounding stompbox that is all about blending: there are knobs to control the wet/dry, octave up, and both octave down voices. There is also a toggle switch to dance between monophonic and polyphonic mode, which works with chords.... Click on the title for more

BOSS board at the Toronto Stompbox Exhibit

BOSS board At our first Toronto Stompbox Exhibit on May 9-10, BOSS showcased a small selection of their pedals, including the Waza Craft line, their new "pedalboard tuner" TU-3s (i.e. a more compact version of their TU-3 without foot switch), and the Vocoder VO-1, which is the first BOSS pedal with a synth circuit in it - and now that we think about it... wasn't the vocoder effect always meant to be in stompbox form, since it's something you want to trigger on and off in most circumstances? Check out the VO-1 video below.

Klon KTR Overdrive – Acid Dad’s favorite pedal

12990833_1026837694056962_5598977515312322354_n[1] NYC's Acid Dad, elected as The Deli's Best Emerging Band of 2015 just a few months ago) boast an electric sound that welcomes psychedelia, garage rock, and post punk in constantly varying doses, and a rock'n'roll attitude that screams "NYC late '60s" (and at times "Manchester late '80s). From what we hear, a guitar pedal is central to the distortion sound on their latest EP 'Let's Plan a Robbery' - we asked guitarist Vaughn to elaborate...... Click on the title for more

Whateverb is a new reverb pedal from Adventure Audio

Whateverb-Product-Shot-For-Web_large[1] Creative (musical) minds like creative tools with creative names, and the brand new Adventure Audio Whateverb pedal checks both boxes - with flair! We were among the first ones to see in person this stompbox at our recent Toronto Stompbox Exhibit, and we were impressed with its clever design and sound. The pedal is a digital reverb that cleverly uses a very small footprint to deliver a lot of options - a good salesman would certainly say "it's like having three pedals in one!" A little switch lever in the center allows you to pick which one of the three available reverb algorithms you want to play with. We love how the three modes have abstract names: "This," That" and "Otherb" - referring respectively to Shimmer, Room and Modulated Reverb.... J.Views’ creative process and gear on the “401 Days” album

10442933_10152450958184568_5210532805907505619_n[1]

In any creative field, there is really no way to stick around for long without some level or self-reinvention. Interestingly, NYC electronic musician J.Views (previously known as J.Viewz) found a way to make this process less about "self" and more about others: his new full length '401 Days' was in part created by his fans, who participated in its step-by-step compositional process through commenting, adding sounds and images of their own over the course of 401 days. That sounded so wild, we had to ask J. some questions about it! What led you to open up your music's creative process to random people, in '401 Days'? I felt like a big part of the artistic value of my songs is actually in the process of making them. I felt like I wanted to share what happens when I don't know what's the song is going to sound like, the curiosity, the experimentation. Those things exist before the song becomes a 'final product' and I wanted to share that with people whom I care about, with whom I want to truly connect, and to whom I want to present the full version of my art to. Where there special rules about how fans could contribute?  Not really, I only asked fans to chip in in a couple of instances, and the stuff I got was really cool and helpful and creative. I did get a couple of demos from Russian techno producers inside the pile, I guess you can't have it all...... Click on the title for more

Violet Sands’ creative process and gear

13178655_1292401510789626_4259100016379011382_n[1] Featuring the mellow vocals of former Savoir Adore lead singer Deidre Muro, the atmospheric guitar work of MGMT collaborator Derek Muro (her brother), and the virtuoso electronic programming of French Horn Rebellion's David Perlick-Molinari (her husband), Violet Sands sounds like a musical experiment aimed at demonstrating that quirky arrangements and intense vocals can coexist, and that cut and paste music can have a heart. Their striking sound makes it a perfect band for a Delicious Audio feature!... Click on the title for more

New Pedals: Seymour Duncan’s Forza Overdrive

1_8d5c6b73-737c-4a32-98bd-b06b78eb6cef[1] In what seems to be becoming a popular trend for pedal manufacturers recently, Seymour Duncan has teamed up for an exclusive release with Chicago Music Exchange for a limited run pedal in their new Forza Overdrive. Unlike a lot of newer drives, this pedal aims to add a more refined crunch to the mix. The Forza doesn’t set out to do anything particularly manic, but rather it focuses on preserving the tonal integrity of both the guitar and the amp, while providing a smooth yet dynamic overdriven quality.... TEEN’s favorite pedal: Eventide Pitch Factor

TEEN's 2016 album Love Yes is a playful aural kaleidoscope that follows in the footsteps of imaginative, brainy, NYC based pop bands like The Talking Heads and They Might Be Giants. In the NYC scene, these ladies are a force to be reckoned with, relentlessly prolific and musically always interesting. We ask main guitarist/songwriter Teeny Lieberson a quick question about stompboxes.... Click on the title for more

Corbu’s Synths and Live Setup

12705466_10153740481793277_2450314465205882236_n[1]

Heavily inspired by a life of vivid dreaming, Brooklyn's
Corbu take the concept of "Dream Pop" to the extreme, by expressing their interpreted realities of the 'sleep-world' through their music . The band just released single 'Polygon Forest' off of their soon to be released studio album, 'Crayon Soul'. The track incorporates solid percussion beats, several layers of synths and the ethereal and psychedelic leaning vocals of lead singer Jonathan Graves. Intrigued by Corbu's sound, we asked him to describe the band's set up. "We’ve been playing live as a 3-piece lately, with me on vocals/guitar/keys, Amanda on synths and Todd on drums. Our music is really synth-heavy, and we’re trying to perform as many of those parts as possible with 4 hands on-stage.... Click on the title for more
