Distorted souls with fuzzy thoughts,
To celebrate the upcoming Austin Stompbox Exhibit (scheduled for March 17-18, during $X$W's Music Week) we are giving away two sweet, sweet pedal effects! Strymon needs no introduction, they are the leading manufacturer of digital, studio quality pedal effects. Their latest pedal, the Riverside Multistage Drive, is their debut in the distortion world, and it's as unique as it's great sounding.... Click on the title for more
You may think that Bondi Effects is another Italian manufacturer (we covered a bunch of them as of late), but the name actually originates from an Australian aboriginal word meaning "the sound of waves crashing over rocks." Is that natural sound the precursor of fuzz?

I had a friend in high school who would just buy some records (from the equivalent of the $1 bin) for their covers. Even though I've never done anything like that, this idea has been slowly growing on me: beautiful art makes things more desirable and therefore more valuable.... Click on the title for more
You know how Italians are, right? Everything needs to be "BELLO," because... who on earth wants to see things that are "BRUTTE"? (By the way, we are using full caps because Italians are notoriously loud, and truly yours, who in the Mediterranean peninsula was born and raised, can certainly confirm that!).
Well, maybe it's this very obsession with beauty that makes Italians excel at the creation of stylish things... At NAMM 2017, Ravenna based Gurus Amps showcased a line of pedals called
Since their introduction a few years ago, mini effect pedals have been the delight of the cheapo guitarists and the curse of boutique maniacs. But as it always happens, innovation's constant improvement allows to pack more and more quality in ever smaller packages, and it feels like we have reached the point where mini-pedals can actually compete with their big brothers and sisters....
