Strymon, at last, seems to have gotten the distortion bug - and overcome their aversion for the color red!
The Californian stompbox manufacturer just unveiled their second distortion pedal ever, after 2016's Riverside Overdrive (since their birth in 2008, they had only released non-distortion pedals, developing a reputation for luscious clean sounds, although the OB.1 compressor and the Deco tape emulator featured respectively a Boost and a Saturation circuit).... Deep Trip is a Brazilian manufacturer out of Sao Paolo that specializes in nuanced fuzz pedals based on tireless research of classic analog circuits, and thoroughly dedicated to troubleshooting out all the nuisances of vintage boxes like noise, instability and power supply inconsistencies. Double tracking guitar parts has been a technique used in recording for decades (and also live actually, if there is more than one guitarist) to thicken things up. It can make guitars sound bigger, fuller, wider, and more textured. In the '60s Abbey Road Studio's engineer Ken Thousand came up with a way to "automate" that effect on vocals, while working on a record by The Beatles: he called it "Artificial Double Tracking," what today is commonly referred to as "slapback delay" (although at the time, of course, it was done using analog tape)....
