The 
Jack Deville of Oregon's Mr. Black Pedals recently unveiled a new line of no frills stompboxes that sport three knobs (and one footswitch) each and also a brand new name: Friday Club Pedals. Even though they are hand made in the US (normally a synonymous of pricey), most of these effects sell for a mere $99. Curious about what drove Jack to this new soldering adventure, we asked him a few question about his new products.

Hosted at Montreal’s premier guitar store Moog Audio, located in the heart of the city, this year's exhibit is scheduled for May Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 (from noon to 7pm on Saturday, and from noon to 6pm on Sunday).

New releases by Keeley Electronics always tickle the wallet of many pedal aficionados, and we are detecting a certain amount of buzz for the company's new high gain distortion about to drop in stores, called Filaments. Maybe because the stompbox in question doesn't have one, nor two, but THREE stages of gain, which, in our book, is even better than an amp with the volume going to 11!

The pedal demos by Knobs are unmissable, here's the one for the new Chase Bliss Audio distortion, named Brothers. We highlighted it a few weeks ago as a "Best of NAMM 2017" pedal here, and had the pleasure of seeing it/hearing it at our Austin Stompbox Exhibit a few weeks ago.

Hailing from Saint Paul, MN, Henretta Engineering got us accustomed to tiny stompboxes with a big sound and hidden tweakability. However, they recently came out with a new line of regular sized pedals under the "H-Bomb" line, which we actually had a chance to see and hear at our latest Austin Stompbox Exhibit (see picture above).... Here's an excerpt from the excellent Gearphoria feature on Red Panda Lab, by Blake Wright:
Curt Malouin has an expansive vision and concept of sound, and Red Panda is his laboratory: "Most of our manufacturing is done at factories because we use surface-mount for reliability and because all of our stuff is based on digital signal processors (DSP),” says Malouin. “Our enclosures are drilled on a CNC machine and powder-coated in Ontario. All of our manufacturing is done in the US, then we do through-hole soldering of the controls, jacks… that kind of stuff here. We do final assembly, testing and then we ship them out to our dealers and distributors. We have a lot of flexibility in that we can shift work between here and the factory really easily based on our availability. We use a couple of factories for circuit board manufacturing and have a couple of suppliers for the enclosures, but we mainly have most of our stuff done locally, and over time have settled on a main factory for each product then a back-up in case they’re busy or if there are any surprises. Part of that is designing within their limitations."
