For those looking for a looper pedal, for $129, the Valeton VLP-200 Multi-Track Sampler provides a lot of bang for your buck. It features two loopers and a variety of drum rhythm patterns thanks to an embedded drum machine, making it a great option for songwriting, practice, and live performance.
It does the layering just as well as any more expensive looper out there, and it also provides dual in/outs for mono and stereo operations, supporting mic or instrument signals.
Two footswitches (LOOP 1/LOOP 2) can independently control the recording and playback of LOOP 1 and LOOP 2 (each with endless overdubs), with two playback modes:
- Serial Mode: allows you to use one loop at a time (either loop 1 or loop 2) which allows you to trigger them one after the other, facilitating verse/chorus changes.
- Free Mode: lets you play the two loops simultaneously, facilitating more complex layering.
The VLP-200 can record up to 7 hours of audio at 24-bit/48 kHz and features several extra features including
- 100 rhythm drum pattern
- Support for drum SYNC function
- Support for external footswitch to control drum machine
- Ability to import and export recording projects and update firmware with supporting software via USB
