Inspired by the early Muffs, the Pigtronix Gas Giant is a high-gain analog jumbo fuzz pedal that delivers monstrous tones with modern precision, using quad-matched transistor sets to lock in that elusive “sweet spot” found in those classic circuits from the ’70s—only with far more consistency and reliability.
At its core, the Gas Giant packs a powerful trio of controls: Gain, Volume, and a dual-voice Tone knob thanks to the Bump/Scoop switch, alternatively delivering a thunderous low-end, scooped mids, and searing highs, or Pigtronix’s signature mid-forward “Bump” setting for cutting through dense mixes. This versatility ensures everything from doom-laden sludge to articulate, snarling leads.
To tame the inherent noise of extreme fuzz, the Gas Giant includes a switchable noise gate with high-speed FET circuitry—borrowed from Pigtronix’s Gatekeeper and fine-tuned for this pedal. It effortlessly silences unwanted hiss without compromising dynamics, adapting seamlessly to any pickup type.
Built for practicality, the Gas Giant features true bypass switching, runs on standard 9VDC power (under 100mA), and sports a compact, pedalboard-friendly design.
