Fans of the Dumble amplifiers have a new way to get that pricey sound at a fraction of the cost – although still a steep $790 USD! But with the Japan-made Peace Hill FX ODS you get what you pay for: a high-end, handbuilt pedal recreation of the Dumble Overdrive Special featuring two real tubes inside it.
Most Dumble amps were slightly customized and the ODS offers some of their most common features, including the Bright, Deep, and Rock/Jazz switches, together with the classic 3-way EQ section.
However, the inclusion of the Ratio control, found in a few originals, is an intriguing one, allowing a more refined control of the overdrive. According to Vintage Guitar, the Ratio knob “controls how much overdrive is fed back into the circuit,” delivering a more aggressive tone.
For the lovers of circuit guts, here’s the shot of the pedal’s interior, very pretty indeed. And here’s the video of it.
