In the last decade or so, Californian pedal company Strymon has fundamentally changed the way we think about guitar pedals through a series of stompboxes offering studio-quality effects with a wide tonal palette and stereo in and out. With the release of V2, six of those pedals got updated to offer even more control and sonic options.
The pedals getting the V2 treatment are all among the more compact, two-footswitch releases without multi-mode functionality: blueSky, El Capistan, Flint, Deco, DIG, and Lex.
They all have the same control configuration with six knobs, two toggles and two footswitches, which means more parameters at your fingertips compared to the original, which had fewer controls and relied on a somewhat impractical secondary function for each knob.
The new versions feature full MIDI implementation that allows for control over all parameters and up to 300 presets, as well as hardware upgrades such as an external Input switch to select mono or TRS stereo input, and an all-analog JFET front end that gives increased responsiveness and dynamic feel.
The knobs also send MIDI out so that you can use any of these pedals to control your DAW’s virtual faders or knobs.
There’s more to this release that can be covered here so we refer to the manufacturer’ presentation video below, while waiting for 3rd party videos on each pedal.
