The Jackson Audio Golden Boy Mini is not a smaller version of the popular Texan company‘s Golden Boy Programmable Overdrive – the two units are as big – but rather a streamlined one, which a more affordable price tag.
Taking the (uber-trendy) concept of transparent overdrive to new heights, the original unit was a Blues Breaker variant designed in collaboration with guitarist Joey Landreth and included a separate Boost footswitch and a novel preset system that were axed from this mini version, which retains the most sought-after features of the original: its tone, the flexible 3-band Baxandall-style EQ, and the most popular two clipping options: LED and Asymmetrical, selectable via a toggle switch.
