We blogged at length about the modded versions of the classic OD808 Maxon is releasing to celebrate its 40th anniversary in collaboration with several top-notch US builders.
The one highlighted here is the Pigtronics mod (OD808-40P), featuring a “Germanium Fat Mod” which, according to Pigtronic’s David Koltai, has been “imbued with the ability to blow the balls off a charging rhino at 100 yards,” through a unique configuration of clipping diodes, increased gain, and a slightly improved low-end curve.
Like all the other pedals in this series, the OD808-40P is a limited production with only 400 units.

Maxon has collaborated with David Koltai, president of Pigtronix to bring you the limited edition 40th Anniversary Pigtronix-modded OD808.
The OD808-40P features Pigtronix’s “Germanium Fat Mod” which, according to Koltai, has been “imbued with the ability to blow the balls off a charging rhino at 100 yards.”
This uncanny ability has been achieved via a unique configuration of clipping diodes, increased gain, and a slightly improved low-end curve
Dave likes the mod so much that the OD808-40P now holds a vaunted place in his live pedalboard.
As with the OD808-40K and the OD808-40C, the OD808-40P will be limited to a production of 400 individually numbered units, each with its own signed certificate of authenticity.
In addition, units 1-40 will be hand-signed by Mr. Koltai and feature special some additional, extremely rare specs!
