Krozz Devices Royalbreaker Distortion

Krozz Devices is a rather young pedal company from Brazil that turned heads in the early ’20s with two intriguing analog modulation pedals and a compressor. The Royalbreaker is their first foray into the realm of dirt boxes, a 2-voice distortion with a wide tonal range that can also deliver borderline fuzz sounds.

Flexibility is the name of the game for modern distortion pedal, and this pedal complies to this requirement by delivering a variety of tones ranging from RAT-style distortion to textures approaching fuzz territory.

The two voices, selectable via theĀ toggle switch, deliver a more aggressive distortion for lead parts or a drier and more focused sound for defined yet punchy rhythm parts.

The unusual “Rising” control adjusts the distortion’s compression level delivering either saturated tones or more open and touch-sensitive tones.

TheĀ 2-way EQ section only features Bass and Treble but allows to dial in mid-scooped (Bass and Treble knobs turned up) or mid-humped (turned down) tones.
