Surf Rock is Dead’s Guitar Pedals

srid With a sound both meditative and gothy, Brooklyn duo Surf Rock is Dead pairs sunny melodies to melancholic tinges, ala the Drums, but with a much shoegazier approach, a kind of music that's tightly connected to the use of guitar pedals. Since guitarist Kevin Pariso confided us that he often gets asked about the secrets behind his uber dreamy sound, we just thought we'd give him an opportunity to come clean.... Manufacturers Profiles: Pettyjohn Electronics

Based in Albany, Oregon, Pettyjohn Electronics is a new-ish face in the community of boutique pedal manufacturers, but one that is receiving a certain amount of attention (and flattering reviews). Pavo Pavo’s Gear and Creative Process

13428659_1746723802208671_5870013646180779975_n1 With psychedelic leanings and spacey synths that could believably been beamed down from Pluto, Brooklyn-based Pavo Pavo has a sound that's both warm and familiar, and yet hard to place. The band seems to comfortably straddle between the deeper trenches of Brian Wilson's brain and the new face of NYC indie rock--whatever that may be. The quintet's tunes may be hazy and wistful, but there's a quirky liveliness embedded at the heart of their tracks that invites the listener back for more and warrants repeat plays. The band's founder Oliver Hill was kind enough to spend some time with Delicious Audio to shed some light on their creative process, and the gear that helps color their distinctive feel.... How To Sound Like The Cure on Guitar | from Reverb.com

cure Recreating the sound of classic rock and pop bands from the past is always fun, but probably not high up in most guitarists' list of priorities. front-small_44b43906-749f-4ef9-b41b-6331dcf70c94_1024x10241 The limit of many fuzz pedals is their "one-trick-poniness." TC Electronic unveils new series of super affordable pedals

tc-smorgasbord-of-tones1 We can't say we didn't see this one coming, after, at winter NAMM 2016, we learned that TC Electronic had been bought by German pro audio manufacturer Behringer, known for their very aggressively priced products for musicians: the news is that (originally) Danish company just came out with a deluge of new, NOT TonePrint enabled, pedals well under $100, appropriately named "Smorgarsbord of Tones."...
