Inspired by both the Tube Screamer and the Klon, the Bleak District Electric Terra Earthly Overdrive meets the criteria of modern saturation stompboxes by providing a wide array of organic-sounding dirt tones, through a unique 5-knob interface controlling a hybrid circuit featuring both Germanium and Silicon diodes.
The Gain level is controlled via the two yellow knobs, but it’s the unlabeled yellow knob that is the real star of this device: it’s an 8-position “Character” rotary knob controlling a Low-Pass Filter placed in front of the gain stage. It can change the resulting tone quite drastically by sculpting the lower frequencies in eight different ways.
- Clean lets you reintegrate the uneffected signal, for a less compressed and more dynamic sound
- Smooth when turned clockwise, this knob cleans up the signal from muddy frequencies to let top-end harmonics shine. Turned anti-clockwise it delivers a warmer tone.
