Here's an excerpt from the excellent Gearphoria feature on Red Panda Lab, by Blake Wright:
Curt Malouin has an expansive vision and concept of sound, and Red Panda is his laboratory: "Most of our manufacturing is done at factories because we use surface-mount for reliability and because all of our stuff is based on digital signal processors (DSP),” says Malouin. “Our enclosures are drilled on a CNC machine and powder-coated in Ontario. All of our manufacturing is done in the US, then we do through-hole soldering of the controls, jacks… that kind of stuff here. We do final assembly, testing and then we ship them out to our dealers and distributors. We have a lot of flexibility in that we can shift work between here and the factory really easily based on our availability. We use a couple of factories for circuit board manufacturing and have a couple of suppliers for the enclosures, but we mainly have most of our stuff done locally, and over time have settled on a main factory for each product then a back-up in case they’re busy or if there are any surprises. Part of that is designing within their limitations."

Once again The Deli will be hosting a mag inside the mag! The hosted mag is Gearphoria, a digital magazine focused on boutique manufacturers of guitar gear. Well, "digital" until now, since The Deli's issue will be in print!

A few months ago, right around the Brooklyn Stompbox Exhibit 2016, our sister site/magazine The Deli kicked off a collaboration with Gearphoria (a digital magazine that focuses on boutique manufacturers of electric guitar equipment). For our upcoming Brooklyn Stompbox Exhibit we wanted to have an issue of The Deli even more special than usual. That's why we asked our friends at Gearphoria (who are obsessed with gear, as you maybe have gathered) to help us out with some pedal related content. We are very proud of the results!

SOMEBODY once said that if you remember the ‘60s you weren’t really there, and this is clearly a problem if you have an interest in effects pedal history.
The WEM-Rush Pepbox was, until recently, one of the great mysteries of UK fuzz, an area which is notoriously, um, fuzzy in its formative years. 
It’s 1973 in Berkeley, California, and a young electrical wizard named Craig Anderton has just developed his take on the envelope filter. He calls it the “Funk Machine”, and together with John Lang, starts an innovative and experimental guitar effects brand, Seamoon Inc. Hand-building each individual unit, they launch their new brand with one pedal and quickly the word starts to spread... Fast forward a few months, Anderton decides it’s time to expand, and with that he develops Seamoon’s own version of the classic fuzz effect: the Fresh Fuzz was born.... Click on the title for more
