Howard is a Brooklyn band that plays an atmospheric brand of melodic post-rock (although the band on their Facebook page refers to it as "Folktronica"), where gentle textural experiments, synths, samples, varying percussive elements and electric guitars blend effortlessly, guided by the mellow tenor of singer songwriter/producer Howard Feibusch. The band has been active since 2009 in various forms, and lately came to the indie rock audience's attention through single "Money Can't Buy" (streaming), which early in 2015 gathered more than 2 million plays on Spotify in a matter of weeks. On Sunday October 26 at 3pm, AnalogMan's owner "AnalogMike" Piera (pictured) will run a panel about guitar pedals focused on many issues related to the effects business and also on several technical aspects of various stompboxes.
One of the first manufacturers to create the boutique, high end guitar pedals that are now so popular, AnalogMan has developed a comprehensive and original approach to stompboxes (and a rather unique business model), that allows it to be also a "modder" of other brands' pedals, an online dealer buying and selling all sorts of guitar related gear, and also a repair shop. Companion, a Brooklyn based art pop project with a twist, is the latest endeavour of singer Pepi Ginsberg (from Red and East is East). The process of developing this new sound began around Pepi's home recordings, along with vocal harmonies she created with founding members Anna Thorngate and Amy Carrigan. To flesh out these vocal-centric versions of the songs, she picked up her own guitar and turned to her longtime bass player, Tim Lappin, plus new guitarist Kirk Schoenherr. As we will explore in this interview, the band started to create a sound that incorporated both organic and electronic elements, often including Ginsberg's homemade beats. The lineup was later complimented by Dave Scalia on the drums and Companion is now out and promoting their eponymous debut album.... Click on the title for more
