Mojo Hand FX SMPLoFi

Before the era of orchestral video game scores, a sonic revolution was quietly brewing inside the Super Nintendo. The sonic identity of that gaming console is unmistakable. Its S-SMP audio system broke from its predecessors by using playable digital samples, a technique that created a world of iconic, memory-laden sounds. The Mojo Hand FX SMPLoFi pedal is a direct homage to this innovation, channeling the spirit of 90s gaming into a creative lo-fi texture machine.

The pedal operates through two distinct DSP programs. The first is a raw bit-crusher, offering independent control over Bit Depth and Sample Rate. This allows you to meticulously degrade your signal from pristine clarity to gritty, artifact-laden chaos, with a crucial Mix control to blend the processed signal with your dry tone.

The second program introduces dynamic reverb and a band-pass filter. Here, the Bit Depth knob performs a dual function: it reduces audio quality while simultaneously gating the reverb tail. Lower bit settings create staccato, truncated echoes, while higher settings allow for longer, washed-out decays. The Filter knob then lets you sweep through the frequencies, isolating chiptune-like highs or brooding low-end tones.

More than just a bit-crusher, the SmpLoFi is an instrument of nostalgia. It captures the specific audio palette of a generation, offering a direct line to the cozy, wonder-filled memories of discovering new digital worlds.
