The Glowfly Retroflect LoFi Tape Sim is a fun looking pedal that recreates analog cassette tape sounds, lofi textures and analog artifacts, with a Saturation knob delivering tape-style soft clipping on the high-frequencies, and a pitch modulation that’s controlled directly by the input volume.
The Wow knob adjusts modulation sensitivity, while an internal trimpot sets the knob’s range. A noise switch introduces soft white noise typical of tape machines.
Here’s a video of the prototype, the final version, pictured above, features an additional master volume knob and an extra volume level on the noise switch (no noise / some noise / more noise).
We added the Retroflect to our article about the best LoFi pedals.
Glowfly Retroflect, Builder’s Notes
The Retroflect faithfully recreates analog casette tape sounds, lofi textures and analog artifacts

The Saturation knob mimics the fluffy noise and distant fuzz of tape saturation, by adding non-linear soft clipping of the high frequencies
For variety, interactivity and fun(!) the pitch modulation is controlled by the input volume. The Wow knob adjusts modulation sensitivity, while an internal trimpot sets the knob’s range to suit your instrument and playing style
The noise switch introduces soft white noise to fully recreate that lofi analog feel. There are three settings, some noise, more noise and off
Glide between lush chorus sounds and all out warbly vibes with the Mix knob, blending the delayed and non-delayed signals together
The demo vid shows the prototype, full version is the same with extra volume level on the noise switch and master volume knob
