Designed to be run in front of your amplifier to achieve maximum fullness, the Banshee Boost/Overdrive from Austin boutique pedal builder ScreaminFX is an interesting design. What sets this pedal apart from other similar boosts is the passive circuitry that adds just the right amount of girth to your sound while enhancing it and allowing it to really shine through in a band setting.
The treble-centric overdrive is achieved using FET transistors instead of the usual clipping diodes and the all analog design is equally at home as a boost or as a main overdrive.
As we could experience directly at our recent Summer NAMM Stompbox Exhibit, the pedal is extremely well-made and durable. It has an all metal enclosure, true bypass, small footprint, top-mounted jacks, and it can be powered by 9v battery or adapter.
No matter how you choose to use it, this Banshee screams.
We also couldn’t help but notice ScreaminFX’s striking, HUGE new Uverbia Spring Reverb, which also features an overdrive, check out the demo below. – Brandon Stoner
