The Electronic Audio Experiments (aka EAE) Glaive is an ultra-high-gain op-amp fuzz pedal, distinguished as the most dangerous gain device in the company’s lineup. Capable of delivering an immense +80dB of gain, it offers a spectrum of sounds from articulate, metallic grind to overwhelming sonic destruction.
Beyond its raw power, the Glaive provides extensive tonal shaping.
- The Weight knob controls a resonant high-pass filter at the input, allowing players to dial in anything from a tight, focused attack to bass-heavy sludge.
- The Texture knob introduces the pedal’s unique character, blending in a full-wave rectified analog signal to generate an octave-up effect. This adds anything from subtle harmonic scrambling on lower settings to pronounced intermodulation and synth-like artifacts at higher levels.
Two three-way toggles offer further refinement.
- The LPF switch tames high-end harshness with moderate or strong filtering options.
- The Squelch switch engages a highly effective bias gate, providing either a mild or strong gating effect that imparts a crumbly, velcro-like texture to the note decay.
Housed within a robust build are professional features including a high-headroom 24V internal power supply, silent buffered bypass, and intelligent footswitch functionality. The EAE Glaive is an instrument of finesse and fury, perfect for guitarists seeking a versatile, yet exceptionally powerful, fuzz that pushes the boundaries of conventional distortion.
