The awesomely named DadShoeGazers Aurora Trails is a delay pedal that was highlighted in a recent JHS pedal show. It combines the warmth of analog delay with the convenience of tap tempo. Made with top-notch components, it keeps your sound authentic with its analog signal path, while the digital time interface gives you precise control.
The Aurora Trails is super functional and gets the job done, but it’s also refreshingly simple to use, in particular for dialing in precise slapback delays (see Rate/Division description below).
Here’s what each knob does:
- Repeats: Control the length and feedback of the trailsgetting into self-sustain past the 3 o’clock position and self-oscillating at maximum settings.
- Blend: Mixes dry and wet signals.
- Rate/Divisions: This control acts like a rate knob on a normal analog delay, allowing you to bring your delay time down to 30 milliseconds for “reverb-like” functionality, or to fine-tune your tapped tempo. Press the encoder to select quarter, dotted eighths, or triplet divisions.
- Tone: Can deliver darker, vintage-sounding tones or brighter and more hi-fi repeats.
