A rather affordable take on the legendary Analogman King of Tone (a dual overdrive), the Coriolis Effects Hail to the King has been around for a while, but the boutique company never ceased to improve it, and the latest version looks nothing short of breathtaking: enter the Coriolis Effects Hail to the King Ultimate Edition.
Sporting Telefunken BA282 and Toshiba 1S1588 diodes on each (identical) channel and other quality components found in the current production of the original King of Tone, this pedal recreates its legendary warm tone while offering a staggering amount of tweakability, including a toggle switch that makes it work internally at 18v, for extra headroom.
On the knobs side of things, each channel benefits from an extra control for Presence for extra high-end fiddling, and three more toggle switches than the Analogman version (which, it must be said, featured 4 internal dip switches):
- High Gain
- Hard Clip
- Soft Clip
These change the gain structure of each channel, providing extra sonic options.
Finally, just like the original KoT, the Ultimate Hail To The King offers an FX loop that allows you to insert a chain of other effects between the two channels.
