The Bleak District Electric Sun V2 belongs to the restricted niche of pedals voiced after the Sunn O Model T, a tube amp that was adopted by stoner and doom metal bands, to the point of inspiring the name of those genres’ pioneers: Sunn O))).
The circuit employs both op-amp and NOS JFET transistor amplifiers organized in multiple gain stages to produce the typical deep yet snappy response of a Model T amp, combined with their untold amounts of gain. A Mode toggle gives you two saturation voicings: the “Vintage” one closely emulates the vintage original, while “Reissue” mode is voiced after the 2007 reissues.
V2 adds an EQ toggle offering two variations for the Tone knob, without ever losing the amps’ signature deep end and overall clarity.
