The Orion Effekte Schwarzweiss Overdrive Booster is a warm, low gain Overdrive+Booster, comprised of the circuits of the German company’s popular SCHWARZ overdrive (controlled through the black knobs), and the WEISS, a brand new boost circuit (controlled by the white knobs).
The two words mean “black” and white” so you may say that the sound you get out of it is a shade of gray.
Here’s what the German labeled controls do:
Black houses the actual overdrive circuit. „PEGEL“ controls the volume, „KLANG“ the tone as usual, „VERZERRUNG“ the amount of distortion and „SÄTTIGUNG“ influences the sound in various, mostly very subtle ways, but can produce oscillations in extreme settings.
White comes with two controls – „PEGEL“ for the volume and „FILTER“ for damping the bass part, e.g. to achieve a TrebleBooster effect.
