3 Leaf Audio Proton Envelope Filter

The first iteration of the 3 Leaf Audio Proton Envelope Filter was released almost ten years ago, and the company thought it was time for an update to the circuit, which was completely redesigned to offer a more musical response, using the company’s recent experience on the popular Chromatron, another more expansive filter pedal.

The Proton is a rather simple pedal born to do one thing: the rhythmic, autowah sound used by both guitarists and bassists in funk music.

A new Range switch allows for deeper filter sweeps, and the reworked tone knob covers every soundscape from cocked wah to “laser beams.”

Four knobs allow for deep control of the pedal’s response from sensitivity to decay of the filter and resonance.

The Proton is an optically controlled analog envelope filter. The circuit has been completely redesigned to offer better tone and a more musical response. It has a new detector circuit based on the one in the Chromatron, and the familiar control layout has a greatly expanded range that can get the classic 1970s filter sounds and well beyond.
