Strymon EC-1 Singe Head dTape Echo

The latest addition to the Californian company’s lineup of high-quality effects pedals, the (single-head) Strymon EC-1 is an evolution of their beloved (multi-head) El Capistan delay, and it’s designed to emulate the warm, organic sound of vintage tape echo machines. Those heads are obviously virtual, because both devices leverage digital circuits.

More compact and streamlined, the EC-1 simplifies the experience by focusing on a single-head tape echo sound, and it’s perfect for players who want a straightforward, tape-style delay without the added complexity.

Just like its predecessor, it captures the character and controls of classic tape echo machines, offering features like adjustable Tape Speed, and echo Repeats, but also controls affecting physical elements of the virtual machine like Tape Age and Mechanics (affecting the modulation), all while delivering the rich, analog-style tones Strymon is known for.

3-way toggle delivers 3 “Recording Level” options, affecting the saturation and compression of the repeats, while the Mix knob sets theratio between dry and wet signal.
