Croatian pedal builder Dry Bell is (so far) laser focused on vibe pedals. The dark gray Vibe Machine is the 2nd version of their flagship pedal, and it’s one of the most versatile Vibes around, with controls for depth of modulation, tone, input impedance (for using different guitars), and output volume.
Shnobel took a long deep look at it in this video:
The Vibe Machine™ series – the world’s first smallest vibe pedal. Even in its little box it retains all the features of the classic Uni-Vibe® – small in size, big on sound! When you switch the Vibe Machine V-2 on, your guitar melts into a swirling three dimensional space inhabited by chewy vibe harmonics and textures. It’s all here from shimmering liquid trebles to throbbing pulse-like waves of bass; a sonic force of beauty that tears down the walls around you!The Vibe Machine V-2 features the same optical system as the V-1, but the pedal’s a little different from the V-1 and it can sound different. We collected your feedback over the last five years and that is the main reason for V-2’s existence. So all tonal options from the V-1 are here, but we added 3 new ‘set and forget’ side controls to the V-1 arsenal: CHORUS, GRIT and CUSTOM. All controls have their factory settings! If you want, check the manual in the support tab for more detailed descriptions, but to begin playing you don’t need the manual, just plug in and enjoy! The CHORUS trimmer adjusts the depth of vibe modulation so the user can adjust the swirl/watery/chewy character of the chorus sound. If you play in a band, we recommend that this trimmer is set to about 12 o’clock (like on the V-1, where it is fixed internally) because on this setting your guitar will cut through the mix better. For bedroom level set this trimmer to 2 or 3 o’clock. The CHORUS trimmer also affects the low end frequencies of the Chorus throb. This trimmer is one of the biggest improvements between the V-2 and V-1 pedals.Try a fuzz/dirt pedal or just an amp after the V-2 and with GRIT you can find your tonal sweet spot with whatever is next in chain. This new control adjusts the overall presence of the pedal’s tone and it is very interactive with the volume of the output signal. The CUSTOM trimmer adjusts the input impedance when the new three way ORIGINAL/BRIGHT/CUSTOM switch is set to the CUSTOM position. If you switch guitars on stage, sometimes you may want to flip this switch to balance your guitar’s brightness. With the VOLUME trimmer at its maximum setting, it boosts your volume above and beyond unity gain. With a higher volume setting you can push your amp or next pedal for a dirty-vibe sound. We also developed several new options for people that want to experiment and love to play with the expression pedal, or maybe use the V-2 with an external footswitch. The new Vibe Machine V-2 has a CANCEL function, TAP TEMPO feature, Fast/Slow with adjustable Leslie® ramp delay (not only ON/OFF like on V-1) or a Two speed function.CANCEL function – Just like on an original Uni-Vibe®, a warm & darker sounding bypass (Cancel on original Uni-Vibe®) is now available on the Vibe Machine V-2 by the touch of your heel. Please refer to the Options manual for more information.Furthermore, there are a couple of ‘set and forget’ digitally controlled options like different footswitch type compatibility, expression pedal pot taper adjustment and more. Check the V-2 options manual to see all of its features. We have removed the TFC output because nobody used it on V-1. Also you won’t see any jumpers inside your V-2 model. We had a lot of fun creating these functions and we hope that you will find some of these features useful for your specific needs and also for your pedalboard.
