The (rather wordily named) BSRI Soft Rains and the Smell Of The Ground is a reverb pedal with a wide palette of tones ranging from lush to brash, created with the ambient, experimental guitarist in mind.
The controls’ names may sound foreign at first, but are not that overworldly:
- Level: Amount of reverb
- Resonance: Cuts or boosts the low end of the reverb
- Air: Cuts or boosts the reverb’s high end
- Soak: controls the reverb’s decay
- Expand: works in conjunction with soak to set the amount of signal cycled back through the processor when the left footswitch is held, creating a momentary effect that can range from infinite decay to intense self-oscillation
