A power trio of pedals, the 
Arc Iris was started by Jocie Adams (formerly of The Low Anthem) as a solo project in 2012 before enlisting the help of Zach Tenorio-Miller on keyboards and Ray Belli on drums, and in 2014 they released their genre bending debut that was influenced by everything from folk and country to jazz and cabaret. Their upcoming album Moon Saloon takes on a darker and more mysterious atmosphere, while continuing to use bold classical arrangements that make their sound unique. Their complexly composed songs feature a wide array of instruments and tender vocal harmonies that shape the band’s ethereal sound. A unique pairing of not-so-complimentary effects, the Science Friction delay from Escape Plan Pedals marries delay and overdrive into a creative combination design.
The control scheme is an array of six simple knobs, making it easy to use and extremely fun to experiment with. ‘Space’ controls the time between echo repeats and ‘Size’ adjusts the number of the repeats, much like a Feedback knob. The ‘Mix’ adjusts the wet/dry blend, and ‘Tone’ is an EQ that affects the delayed signal. ‘Drive’ lets you set the input gain level of the overdrive, and the ‘Level’ control serves as the Science Friction’s master volume.... For our upcoming Brooklyn Stompbox Exhibit we wanted to have an issue of The Deli even more special than usual. That's why we asked our friends at Gearphoria (who are obsessed with gear, as you maybe have gathered) to help us out with some pedal related content. We are very proud of the results!

After perfecting their nuanced sound via touring and single releases, the shoegaze duo, Shana Falana, impressed critics with a 2015 debut LP titled Set Your Lightning Fire Free. Follow-up album, Here Comes the Wave is scheduled for a fall release later this year. The band's sound hits all the right sensory marks dealing in positive wonderment and a sense of discovery. Vocals, as sung by singer/guitarist Shana, soar over chiming guitars and tom-tom drums, all of which keep pace with affected, drone-y guitars. There's a fine line between "old" and "vintage," and that subtle quality called "character" is what stands between the two. Many music lovers today enjoy the sonic imperfections of vinyl records, and while several examples of vinyl emulation plug ins for recording have been around for decades, guitar pedal manufacturers haven't shown as much interest in the idea, if any.
