Reviews for musical gear have always been riddled with conflicts of interest – let’s just say that a reviewer writing for a publication that runs an ad about the product he’s reviewing is not in the ideal position to be objective…
This is why videos like the ones streaming below (by EytschPi42), where the host explicitly says that he posted it just because he liked the demo unit, are extremely valuable for both manufacturer and consumers. In this case, the fact that also notoriously picky blogger “The Ugly Guitar Truth” had good things to say about Hotone’s amp emulators provides us with an extra reason to be curious about these devices.
Unlike the original Nano Legacy Mini-Amps the Nano Legacy Floor units are actual stompboxes, with footswitches an’ all – hence their name. But they are also 75w amps – so you can plug them directly into your cabinet! Each one of these pedals offers two of the original Legacy Mini-Amps circuits in two separate channels, which can be selected through an A/B footswitch. They also include a boost circuit placed before the channels and a reverb placed after – each with its own independent footswitch.
Compared to the regular Hotone mini-amps, the Nano Legacy Floor Amps feature upgraded sound quality, increased output power (up to 75 watts) and extended on-board functions/effects. Hotone posted this video of the Britwind model just before NAMM 2018; its two channels feature the circuits of the Nano Legacy British Invasion (voiced after the Vox AC30) and Purple Wind (an emulation of the Marshall 1959 Plexi Super Lead). Considering the positive reviews so far, we can expect the unveiling of new amp combinations at NAMM 2019.
