Presented as a ” multi-generational time reflection pedal,” the EarthQuaker Devices Silos is a 3-mode, handbuilt delay pedal with tap tempo and (6) presets offering simple controls and classic emulations of vintage and modern echo effects.
The three modes cover the basics of the most popular delay types, and include the following:
- Analog, which is voiced after the evergreen Bucket Brigade Device chip, with its slightly more midrangey character and the typical artifacts that increase the higher the delay length
- Tape, recreating the warm, darker sound of tape with a touch of saturation on your peak notes
- Digital, inspired by the pristine sound of modern delays
The expression input allows external control of any of the three knobs (Time, Repeats and Mix), while a dedicated Tap Tempo footswitch facilitates synchronizing the delay with the track’s tempo.
