The Laney Ironheart Foundry is the British amp and pedal company’s entry unit in the growing segment of powered amps in pedal format – a two-channel one + boost, for the record.
With 60 Watts of power channeled through its 8 Ohm loudspeaker output, the Ironheart has enough juice to get plenty of volume out of most guitar cabs.
Since it’s an amp, this pedal doesn’t have an on/off footswitch but a power switch in the back, which allows the two footswitches to deal with the triggering of the two channels and the extra Boost section. This allows the players to have a combination of 4 tones at the tip of their toes (i.e. two channels with or without boost).
While the 3-way EQ section is shared and placed last in the routing chain, each channel has separate Gain and Volume knobs and a differently-sounding 3-way voice switch: Rythm, Clean, and Lead for Channel 1 and Bright, Dark, and Flat for Channel 2. The voicing variety allows for a wider palette of tonal possibilities.
The Boost, triggered by the right footswitch, can add extra volume to taste thanks to its own knob.
The Ironheart Foundry can also be used as a regular drive pedal through its regular 1/4″ output, and features aux in and headphones out to facilitate solo practice/playing.
