If you like your fuzz bassy, the Rumblefuzz Fuzzstortion II may be your desired dirt box. It’s designed to work with lower frequencies and offers a warm, fat fuzz that has enough bite to cut through the mix while delivering uncommon touch sensitivity.
The Rumblefuzz was the first pedal ever released by the Portland-based brand, and this redesigned and improved version comes on the company’s 15th year anniversary, which is also an opportunity to celebrate the return of the founder Zak Martin, who had left in 2019.
Entirely handcrafted, the Rumblefuzz II offers 10bds of additional output and increased tonal range mostly due to the upgrade to a 3-way voice toggle (from the previous 2-wayt one) affecting presence, bias and compression.
The other controls are unusual and not necessarily self-explanatory:
- RUMBLE deals with the low end, keep it low for amp-like tones at low fuzz levels, turn it up to taste when maxing the fuzz for truly fat wall of sounds
- BITE controls the gain of the circuit and it’s able to dial in a variety of dirtbox tones, from transparent overdrives to distortion to a wide varieties of fuzzes.
- FUZZ controls the output volume, with plenty of it to drive any amp.
