At SuperBooth 2024, Polish synth brand Polyend unveiled its first pedal, a high-end stereo analog compressor called Press. The Polyend Press is now shipping.
At the intimidating price point of $399 USD (and €399), this circuit offers a little more than just studio-quality compression and limiting. That extra value can be found in its unique External Sidechain circuit (with dedicated footswitch) with low and high pass filters, which allows it to bypass problematic frequencies that might otherwise be triggering the sidechain effect.
It also features a Tilt EQ control for minimal tone sculpting/frequency compensation and the ever-useful Mix knob, a necessity for those who value the sonic beauty of parallel compression.
The rest of the controls are those found in a typical, fully-featured compressor, with the added bonus of a 10 LED strip showing the amount of decibels “removed” from the signal from -1 to -30. The Press also has a mono mode, in case you are wondering.
